LONG BEACH — Dozens of amazing vehicles attracted envy and stares at Long Beach’s Bolstad beach approach on a picture-perfect Saturday during the first local Washington Truck Meet.

Organized by the Washington Truck Meets group under the auspices of the city of Long Beach, the event brought hundreds downtown the weekend before the official launch of the summer 2018 tourist season.

Among the prizes in different categories, the desirable People’s Choice Award went to Kaleena Suzawa of Kenwood. She and her husband own Daddy’s Donuts (www.daddysdonuts.net).

“Building trucks is a passion and it seems my girls are following in my footsteps,” Suzawa said. “I just got back from a truck meet in Texas called Lonestar and I’ll be headed to the Idaho truck meet in the end of July!”

She offered enthusiastic thanks to Long Beach for hosting the meet, which taps into a deep vein of American affection for pickups.
