MEGLER — There were more reports Sunday of humpback whales in the Columbia estuary, primarily in the north channel as it passes close to the Washington shoreline near the north end of the Astoria-Megler Bridge.

The video embedded here shows a humpback jumping clear of the water as a recreational fishing boat motors the other direction.

Some comments from observers Sunday include:

• “From 11 am to 1:30 pm there were whales in the river at all times on the Washington side of the Megler bridge, as many as 7 at once.”

• “East side of Megler!!!!”

• “2 off Hammond, heading up river fast.”
