On Aug. 1 at 6 p.m., LBPD was called for a shoplifter who attempted to steal shirts. After a discussion with the guardian of the person and the return of the merchandise, the store decided not to press charges.
On Aug. 3 at 1:50 p.m., officers were dispatched for shots fired and a fight. After an initial investigation it was determined that a man had shot a dog running free that attacked his two dogs that were on leashes. Police determined that the man acted appropriately and no charges were filed.
On Aug. 4 at 4 p.m., officers arrested Chad L. Menard, age 32, from Ocean Park and booked him into Pacific County Jail for domestic violence fourth-degree assault.
At 1:30 p.m., a wheel had been stolen from a bike locked in a bike rack in Long Beach.
On Aug. 5 at 2 p.m., officers responded to a loud explosion under the boardwalk on the Discovery Trail. Three kids were reported running from the scene. The remains of a homemade bomb (like a big M-80) were found.
At 8:45 p.m., Cody A. Brown, age 23, from Long Beach was arrested and booked into Pacific County Jail on four outstanding warrants.
On Aug. 6 at 1:54 a.m., LBPD officers were dispatched to a parking lot in Long Beach on a report of two unconscious males lying next to a car. Officers arrived and found both were passed out. After an initial investigation, Jonathan M. Biggs, age 20, from Ocean Park, was cited for minor in possession. Jodey D. Stinehart, age 50, from Seaview, was charged with possession of a possible legend drug, marijuana possession less/equal to 40 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 11:15 p.m., officers noticed the suspect from a shoplifting incident that occurred on July 26, walking down a sidewalk. They stopped and talked to him and he admitted to stealing shoes. Darren J. Lundquist, age 19, from Ilwaco was cited for third-degree theft and marijuana possession less/equal to 40 grams.
On Aug. 7 at 7 p.m., an officer was dispatched for a person having difficulty breathing. Contact was made and the female said she believed her asthma was triggered when she accidentally swallowed a condom. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.
On Aug. 9 at 8:56 p.m., Pacific Jennings, age 38, from Anacortes was cited for fourth-degree assault after he was alleged to have forcibly pushed a boy into a pool out of complete annoyance at his behavior.
On Aug. 10 at 2:50 a.m., Thomas L. Wirkkala, age 38, from Ilwaco was booked into Pacific County Jail on a felony Department of Corrections warrant and a misdemeanor warrant.
At 1:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the skate park for an assault. An investigation revealed that one boy was picking on two 9-year-old boys, had tripped and pushed one to the ground and then stomped on his fingers. The perpetrator was cited and given a three-day suspension from the park.
Malicious mischief was reported at 3:45 p.m., after a window was broken on a door and a light fixture removed, causing approximately $1,000 in damages.
On Aug. 11 at 8:30 p.m., Franklin E. Warner, age 48, from Long Beach, was booked into Pacific County Jail for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
On Aug. 12 at 6:20 p.m., a store had a shoplifter in custody. Dale W. Mutschler, age 63, from Oregon City, Ore., was cited for third-degree theft after he allegedly took a package of darts without paying for them.
On Aug. 13 at 1:30 p.m., the bumper of a Jeep had been dented and the tire cover torn after a rented moped hit it. All parties came to an agreement and dispersed.
At 7:54 p.m., George C. Roberts, age 19, from Shelton was cited for minor in possession.
At 9:27 p.m., Jared M. Niemi, age 43, from Ilwaco was booked into Pacific County Jail for domestic violence fourth-degree assault, and violation of a no contact order domestic violence with assault, a felony charge.
At 10:50 p.m., Allen H. McNeal, age 26, from Ocean Park, was booked into Pacific County Jail for violation of a protection harassment order.
On Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m., an Evinrude boat motor, valued at $2,000, was reported stolen.
At 8:15 p.m., Charles E. Gruenewald, age 44, from Ilwaco was booked into Pacific County Jail for felony harassment domestic violence.
