LONG BEACH/ILWACO - Long Beach Police Department officers investigated a report of a vehicle prowl, reported at 1:13 p.m. Jan. 17 in the 1100 block of N. Ocean Beach Blvd. in Long Beach. A window in a car was smashed and items were removed. No information was available about the value of the items taken.

An officer investigating a car parked at the Bolstad beach approach parking lot in Long Beach at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 17 smelled marijuana. The driver of the car admitted he and his friends, all juveniles, were smoking marijuana and the officer spotted a glass pipe in the back seat. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia will be filed on a 17-year-old from Ocean Park, according to the police report.

About $200 worth of tools were reported stolen from a shed in the 100 block of N.W. 18th St. in Long Beach after a burglary report at 2 p.m. Jan. 18.

A man wearing a blue coat and long underwear was reported going house to house in Long Beach and asking for $1.08 for beer at 5 p.m. Jan. 18. An officer contacted the man and told him to go home and stop bothering people.

A 3- by 6-foot storage shed was reported stolen from a Long Beach business at 4:42 p.m. Jan. 19. The green and tan plastic shed, valued at about $300, was taken sometime between 8 p.m. Jan. 15 and 8 a.m. Jan. 16.

A shoplifter was reported at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at a downtown Long Beach business. Eric L. Ballweber, 21, from Ferndale, was cited for third-degree theft and third-degree possession of stolen property in the case. Ballweber had allegedly taken a sweatshirt from the business and was found to allegedly be in possession of items taken from another Long Beach business.

At 1:15 p.m. Jan. 20, another shoplifter was reported at the same business. James L. Ingels, 70, of Ilwaco, was cited for third-degree theft.

A burglary was reported at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 20 in the 400 block of Lake Street in Ilwaco. A resident reported that someone had entered the home and taken a Playstation 2 game sometime between noon and 3:15 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a domestic-violence case in progress at 2:35 a.m. Jan. 21 in the 1800 block of N. Ocean Beach Blvd. in Long Beach. Donald R. Lawhead Jr., 31, of Long Beach, was cited and booked for two counts of fourth-degree domestic-violence assault after he allegedly hit his girlfriend and threw a glass of water in the face of a child. Lawhead also was cited for interfering with the reporting of a domestic violence case after he allegedly ripped a phone from a wall and threw a chair.

A report was received at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 22 of two possibly intoxicated poeple falling down beside the road at Elizabeth and Howerton streets in Ilwaco. An officer was unable to locate the people.

An employee of a downtown Long Beach tavern reported that two men were banging on the window at 2 a.m. Jan. 23. She said when she told the men the bar was closed, they pulled down their pants and exposed themselves to her, according to the police report, then took off. An officer found the two men, who began running. The officer chased them down and contacted John Yanez-Carpenter, 23, from Ilwaco, who said he had been sitting in his truck for the past hour. The employee of the tavern identified Yanez-Carpenter as one of the men and he was cited for indecent exposure and disorderly conduct. The second suspect wasn't located.
