LONG BEACH/ILWACO - A 48-year-old suspect in a June 28 case in which a woman reported she had been pepper-sprayed in the face was cited at 11:13 a.m. July 18 at an RV park in Ilwaco. The man, who wasn't identified, is from Ilwaco.
Dune grass fires in Long Beach last weekend could be arson and police are investigating. They weren't very big fires and were put out quickly.

Residents of an apartment in Long Beach reported at 11 p.m. July 19 that four kids dressed in dark clothing were pounding on their windows and looking in. An officer contacted the juveniles, who said they "thought it would be funny to scare an old lady and film it with a camera," according to the police report. One of the juveniles was wearing a gorilla mask, according to the report. The officer made them apologize to the woman and her granddaughter.
Matthew D. Sautter, 18, from Warren, Ore., was cited and released after a shoplifting incident at a Long Beach store at 7:13 p.m. July 21. A bracelet valued at $5.99 was allegedly taken from the store.
A pickup with its stereo on so loud it knocked pictures off the wall was reported at 7:30 p.m. July 21 at Sid Snyder Drive. Officers were unable to locate the truck.
Nathaniel Haskins-Prescott, 44, from Yamhill, Ore., was booked for second-degree malicious mischief and fourth-degree assault shortly after midnight July 22 after a disturbance at an apartment in the 300 block of N.E. Sixth St. in Long Beach. Haskins-Prescott allegedly was intoxicated and had assaulted his friends, causing about $400 in damages.
Payroll checks worth between $3,000 and $4,000 were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at an Ilwaco business at 7:30 p.m. July 22. The owner of the vehicle said he was handing out the checks to temporary workers at businesses in Ilwaco, parked in the lot and left the checks under the seat. He said when he returned to the van, the driver's side window had been removed and the checks were gone. The case is under investigation.
A streetlight valued at $1,200 was knocked over at 7:45 p.m. July 22 at the Port of Ilwaco. A witness reported seeing a man and woman arguing in a 1970s multicolored van. He said the van took off backwards, hit the light, then sped off. Officers were unable to locate the van.
Five pairs of women's underwear were reported hanging in trees at N. 12th and Boulevard in Long Beach at 8:20 p.m. July 22.
Officers contacted a man who was allegedly living in his car in the Long Beach City Hall parking lot at 11 a.m. July 24 and gave him two hours to remove the vehicle.
The owner of a truck that had been parked at the Port of Ilwaco parking lot on July 19 reported at 3:10 p.m. July 25 that 300 CDs valued at $3,000 and a U.S. Cellular camera phone valued at $467 had been taken from the vehicle. He said a window had been pried open.
