LONG BEACH/ILWACO - Long Beach Police Department officers had their hands full Friday night when they broke up a beach party at 11:20 p.m. at the Sid Snyder beach approach in Long Beach. Sixteen people, aged 18 to 20, were arrested and cited for MIP. All but one Idaho resident were from Washington state.

A possible drunken driver was reported driving southbound on Pacific Highway at 10:15 a.m. May 16. An officer caught up with the vehicle in Long Beach after the driver, according to the police report, nearly sideswiped another car. The driver was apparently having a medical issue, according to the report, and was taken to Ocean Beach Hospital.
A citizen reported at 9:45 p.m. May 16 that a vehicle had struck a stop sign, telephone pole and guard rail. An officer found the vehicle outside of Ilwaco and a Washington State Patrol trooper took over the case as a DUI. The van was towed. The driver allegedly had a .160 blood-alcohol level.
A fight in progress was reported at 1:30 p.m. May 17 at the Port of Ilwaco. The victim told an officer a man had gotten into his truck and, when he confronted him, the man grabbed him by the neck. Gary B. Poole, 54, of Long Beach, was cited for second-degree vehicle prowl and charges of fourth-degree assault will be filed with the Pacific County Prosecutor. According to the report, Poole said he did look into the truck but did not touch the alleged victim.
A generator valued at about $300 was reported stolen from a fishing boat at the Port of Ilwaco at 10 a.m. May 18.
An officer arrested Colette L. Hatton, 42, on a warrant after he saw her walking in Ilwaco at 9:30 p.m. May 18 and transported her to Pacific County Jail.
At 3:15 p.m. May 19, a burglary was reported in the 500 block of Lakeview in Ilwaco to a fifth-wheel trailer.
A man was reported trying to open car doors at 7:47 p.m. May 19 at the Port of Ilwaco. An officer was unable to locate the man.
A fight in progress was reported at 2:15 a.m. May 20 in north Long Beach. Officers contacted a group of people having "an argument fueled by alcohol," according to the report, and separated the combatants, who didn't want to press charges.
A 71-year-old woman apparently became disoriented while parking in the lot of a Long Beach restaurant at noon on May 20. According to the report, she lost control of her vehicle and backed up at a very high speed, around the block, jumping two curbs and hitting five vehicles. The driver was taken to Ocean Beach Hospital with minor injuries and was cited for second-degree negligent driving and for having no insurance.
A report of a disorderly MIP party was received at 8:30 p.m. May 20 at S. Ninth and Washington streets in Long Beach. Officers cited Jason A. Hall, 19, of Ocean Park, for MIP and possession of drug paraphernalia, and Jimmy L. Hall, 20, of Ocean Park, for MIP. Brian K. Sager, 19, from Ocean Park, was cited for for MIP and booked at Pacific County Jail on a felony warrant.
A "very intoxicated" man was taken to Ocean Beach Hospital after a call for medical help at 11:30 p.m. May 20. According to the report, the man said he had been drinking on the beach with tourists and that someone had put something in his drinks. An officer checked the location on the beach and found only an elderly couple at a camp fire who hadn't been drinking alcoholic beverages.
A verbal argument was reported at 5:30 p.m. May 21 in the 1700 block of N. Washington St. in Long Beach.
