LONG BEACH/ILWACO - Long Beach Police Department officers were busy last week but no major crimes were reported.

An assault was reported at 3 p.m. May 9 at 11th and N. Washington streets in Long Beach. The alleged victim didn't want to press charges.

An assault on the Black Lake trail in Ilwaco was reported by a third party at 3:05 p.m. May 9. An officer was unable to locate anyone involved.

Suspicious males were reported selling magazines at 3:30 p.m. May 9. An officer was unable to locate the men.

An officer working at the LBPD office heard a vehicle squealing its tires at 12:46 a.m. May 12. When he investigated, he saw a truck heading west, then heard a crash and saw a man run into the woods. He was unable to locate the man. The vehicle, registered to a Vernonia, Ore., resident, was towed.

People reported being harassed by a man at the Long Beach Tavern at 1:26 a.m. May 12. The man left before an officer arrived.

As he was returning from the previous call, the officer saw a man yelling outside Long Beach Tavern at 1:43 a.m. May 12. He found another man on the ground, bleeding, and the other person began running when he saw the officer. A witness helped the officer find Eric A. Johnson, 23, from Kalama, the suspect in the assault, and arrested and booked him at Pacific County Jail for fourth-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Several reports were received about a possible MIP party in the 1300 block of N. Washington St. in Long Beach on May 12 but officers were unable to confirm the reports.

Johan E. Fernlund, 18, of Ocean Park was cited and released for MIP at 11:10 a.m. May 13 at S. Ninth and Pacific Highway in Long Beach.

An Ilwaco man who was stopped by officers at 3:30 p.m. May 13 in Ilwaco for third-degree driving with a suspended license was arrested and booked at Pacific County Jail. Kevin C. McIntosh, 25, was booked for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of suspected methamphetamine and on the suspended-license charge.

A citizen turned in a whale bone from the display on Discovery Trail that had been vandalized. He said he had found the bone in bushes near the site.

A car prowl was reported in north Long Beach at noon May 14. About $250 worth of items were reported missing, including a car stereo.

Officers arrested Aubrey L. Torppa, 20, from Long Beach on a warrant at 4:45 p.m. May 14. He was booked at Pacific County Jail.

People were reported playing guitars and singing at the skate park in Long Beach at 9:37 p.m. May 14. An officer told them to leave the park.

A prowler was reported at an Ilwaco RV park at 4 a.m. May 15.
