Long Beach Rodeo enjoys big crowd, $18,000 payout

LONG BEACH - With the weather perfect for the animals, the participants and attendees, the 62nd Annual Long Beach Rodeo was an outstanding success the weekend of July 28 and 29. The stock were provided by Gold Buckle. The total purse payout for the rodeo was $17,790.

In bareback riding, Dan Webb of Wendell won first place with a score of 80, winning $346.60. In barrel racing, Shelly Combs of Eltopia won first place with a score of 18.95, winning $485.76. Local competitor Diane Carter of Long Beach finished sixth with a time of 18.50, winning $168.96. Breakaway roping was won by Jennifer Casey of Mesa, Ariz., with a score of 2.20, winning $629.64.

Bull riding was won by Shane Ahrens of Tenino, with a score of 72, earning him $1,480. Saddle bronc riding was won by Jerrod Ailshie of Battle Ground, with a score of 4.60, winning $584.64. The team roping header winner was Randy Pollon of Canby, Ore., with a score of 5.60, earning him $709.92. The team roping heeler was Will Schmidt of Benton City, Ore., with a winning score of 5.60, earning him $709.92. Tie-down roping was won by Jake Pratt of Ellensburg with a score of 8.20, earning him $730.80.
