Lowell Doupe

DENVER, Colo. - Lowell Doupe, adopted son of Henry and Anna Doupe of Ilwaco (Doupe Bros. store) passed away suddenly on Oct.15 in Denver, Colo.

Mr. Doupe attended Ilwaco High School and later West Point. He served as an aerial photographer in the South Pacific in World War II.

He married Dorothy Carlson of Denver, Colo., and they had two daughters. Diana Doupe Vicari lives in France and Debbie Doupe Newbrough lives in Illinois.

The family lived in Ilwaco, where Mr. Doupe was manager and buyer for Doupe Bros. furniture store. After later moves to Denver and Sacramento, having earned a degree, Mr. Doupe became a senior residential appraiser for the FHA. Following his wife's death in 1967, he remarried and returned to Denver. His second wife died in 1995.

Mr. Doupe's hobbies were railroading and stamp collecting, and he donated two fine train layouts to boys' clubs. He had the joy of seeing his nephew, Patrick, graduate from Annapolis (currently at Harvard Business School) and of meeting his great-granddaughter in 2002.
