The Peninsula's robust population of black bruins is busting with new life this spring. Their cubs, though cute, deserve added caution - the old advice still stands true: Never come between a mother bear and her cubs. Back away slowly if you find yourself in a close encounter. This family was photographed by Judy Roth. Mama bear sent her kids clambering up tree for safety when she was startled by a noise.
