JUPITER, FLA. - Max K. Evans, 70, died on Friday, March 24, 2006, after suffering with cancer for a short time. Originally from Long Beach, he had been a resident of Jupiter, Fla., for 22 years. He was born in Wichita, Kan., on May 25, 1935.
He was a devoted family man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on the computer, playing golf and boating. He was past Commodore of the Jonathon's Landing Yacht Club, very active in the Corvette Club and was a member of the Board of Trustees at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore. He also had many dear friends and extended family all over the country that will miss him.
In 2003 Mr. Evans, an alumnus of Ilwaco High School, was inducted into the Ilwaco High School Wall of Fame. He was honored for his many accomplishments since graduating from I.H.S. in 1953.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Arlene, his mother, Colleen, his two sons and their wives, Greg and Christina Evans and Gary and Becky Evans; four grandchildren Curtis and his wife Maggie, Jeanie, Jacob and Miranda; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael.
A funeral service was held on March 27 at Jupiter First Church, with Rev. David Kaiser-Cross officiating. Entombment followed at Riverside Memorial Park, Tequesta, Fla.
Donations in his name should be sent to the American Cancer Society.
