Maynard Underwood

EVERETT - Maynard Underwood, 84, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2006, following a long bout of complications from Parkinson disease. The son of Ray and Bertha Underwood, he was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Gage, Okla.

He moved from Bothell to Ocean Park in 1981 after a 37-year career with Boeing. He was an avid beachcomber, rock hound, and genealogist. He was an active member of the Pacific County Genealogical Society and the Ocean Park Community Church until 2001 when his health forced him to leave his beloved Peninsula.

He was preceded in death by his "brown-eyed Irish" wife of 56 years, June. Survivors include his son Gene Underwood and wife Lois of Everett, and daughter Nancy Summers and husband Joe of Raleigh, N.C., four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three brothers. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. at Living Hope Christian Fellowship, 9500 NE 191st St., Bothell, WA 98011 on Saturday April 29. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Living Hope Christian Fellowship memorial fund.
