Long Beach Police Report
LONG BEACH - Long Beach Police Department officers had several encounters with a mentally disturbed woman last week.
The first was on March 4 at 1 a.m. when they received a report of the 52-year-old woman speaking incoherently "about every conspiracy known to man," according to the LBPD report.
The next day just before 1 p.m. officers received a report that the woman was "driving erratically and talking nonsense."
On March 7 at 1 a.m. an officer encountered the woman in her car which was stopped in the middle of a downtown Long Beach street with the lights off. An officer contacted her and gave her a breathalyzer test, which was negative for alcohol consumption. According to the officer, the woman said she was following a purple dragon around Long Beach and it had landed in the street.
The officer took the woman home but got a call an hour later that she was at another house, asking to be let in out of the rain. The officer looked for her for an hour, then was told by Pacific County Dispatch that she had walked home barefooted. That morning a merchant at the Port of Ilwaco reported that the woman had called her, telling her to close the store for a half hour and give her a ride.
On March 8 at 6:30 p.m. officers responded to a complaint of a woman yelling at a clerk at Ocean Beach Hospital. After escorting her from the hospital, she walked away and another officer returned her to Ocean Beach Hospital for a mental evaluation. A bed was found for her at a hospital in Olympia.
In other LBPD news, On March 4 at 2 p.m. officers contacted two men sitting on a planter in downtown Long Beach drinking from a vodka bottle. An officer poured out the vodka and gave one of the men a ride home.
A domestic violence case was reported at 8:10 a.m. March 5 in Long Beach. A woman reported that her husband had assaulted her. The husband was served with a temporary order for protection and cited for fourth-degree domestic violence assault. He violated the order at noon the same day by calling his wife and was arrested and booked into Pacific County Jail.
LBPD received a report at 8 a.m. March 6 that an employee of a local motel had heard a loud bang at 2 a.m. and found a soda-dispensing machine had been blown up. It was later found that a CO2 bottle filled with an unknown explosive had been placed in the machine causing $250 damage.
A report of a shoplifter in custody was received at 4 p.m. March 7. Officers arrived to find a juvenile who had allegedly walked out of the store with a pair of sweatpants under his shirt. When asked by an officer why he had taken the pants, he replied that they were "cool looking." The juvenile was transported to his home and a case will be filed with juvenile authorities.
The owner of a rental property in Ilwaco reported at 3:20 p.m. March 8 that someone had moved into the house without his permission. An officer contacted the person and she said she would leave the next day. The officer told her she would be arrested for trespass if she didn't leave.
A report of a man choking a woman in downtown Long Beach was received at 8:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, the officer tried to contact the man at a motel room. He refused to open the door but eventually exited the room and was taken into custody and transported to Pacific County Jail on suspicion of domestic assault.
