Enrollment up slightly in Naselle schools
NASELLE - Compared to last spring's year-ending enrollment and to the estimated student population on which Naselle-Grays River Valley School District superintendent Gerald Schmidtke based the budget for the current school year, the current enrollment figures are looking a little more positive than what was expected.
The district reported a public school enrollment of 316.19 students in the year's first report sent to the Superintendent of Public Instruction office in Olympia. That total contrasts with a year-ending total of 303.2 students last June, which shows a slight gain this fall. Fearing an even bigger decline, Schmidtke had based his budget on a student population of 283 FTE students plus four Running Start students.
