NASELLE - Students in Mr. Tienhaara's eighth-grade science class participated in the workshop "Brain Power: "It's All in Your Head" on March 3. Students from Wahkiakum Middle School and Willapa Valley Middle School also participated at the Naselle workshop.

During the workshop, four students from each school learned about the functions of the brain and conducted experiments testing various brain functions.

The students also got to handle a real human brain, spinal cord and vertebrate. Students participating from Naselle were Kelsi Nelson, Kristiina Chism, Jeremy Ray and Cheryl Steppe. These four students were then facilitators at an all day brain exhibit at Naselle Middle School.

The Brain Power workshop is sponsored by the Pacific Science Center and from a grant by Group Health Cooperative, the National Center for Research Resources, National Institute for Drug Abuse, National Institute of Health and the University of Washington.
