OYHUT - The Naselle seventh grade boys took first place at league in North Beach Thursday, May 19. The Wildcats withstood howling winds to finish strong. There were 12 teams competing and the boys had 129.5 points to finish first against a distant second of 60 points by South Bend.

There were many fine individual performances contributing to the high team score.

Alan Erickson placed first in the shot at 34'4" and first in the discus at 109'8" and second in the 200 meters. Colton Gilbert placed first in the 110 hurdles at 18.5, first in the 100 meters at 13.5, first in pole vault at eight feet. Austin Burkhalter placed first in the high jump at 4'6", first in triple jump at 31'11" and first in the 400 at 1:05. John Hines took fifth in 110 hurdles. Kyle Johnson took fourth in high jump and fourth in the 400. Drew Macy earned fifth in high jump and fourth in the 800. Calen Thompson won a grueling second in the mile at 5:42.4, (nine seconds behind first place). Seventh grade boys also took first in the 4x100 relay with a time of 54.2. Relay members were Austin Burkhalter, Colton Gilbert, Charlie Scalzo and Kyle Johnson. They also took second in the 4x400 with Nathan Carlson, Calen Thompson, John Hines and Jacob Revis.

The Naselle eighth grade boys took second with 69 points, behind South Bend, which had 89 points. Individual performance was as follows: Stuart Edgell took fourth in the shot; Michael Shirley took sixth in shot and fourth in the 1,600 and third in the 400; Conor Smith took fourth in triple jump at 31'4", third in high jump at five feet and first in the 800 at 2:27.6. Gabe See earned third in the pole vault at eight feet and third in the high jump at 4'10". Chris Houghston had a sixth in the 400. Tylor Nortrup had a fifth in the pole vault at 7'6". The relay teams also did well with a first in the 4x400 (Michael Shirley, Tylor Nortrup, Gabe See and Dustin Parker) and a second in the 4x100 - Conor Smith, Gabe See, Dustin Parker, Tylor Nortrup.

The girls had some good individual performances as well. For the seventh grade: Nicole Laney earned first in the long jump at 13'1.5", first in triple jump at 26'5" and fifth in the 100. Emily Green earned third in the 800 at 3:09.6, fourth in the 1,600 at 6:46.8. Samantha Bauer earned fifth in the pole vault at five feet. The seventh grade girls also got second in the 4x100 relay at 1:02.6 - Emily Green, Nicole Smith, Samantha Bauer and Alicia Langstrom.

The eighth grade girls individual results are : Jerrica Juarez earned fourth in the 800 at 3:03.8 and fourth in the 1,600 at 6:53.7. The 4x200 relay got fourth place with a time of 2:20.7 - Jerrica Juarez, Shelby Leeland, Risa Fletcher and Elizabeth Bonney.
