PACIFIC OCEAN - Following widespread concerns expressed along the Oregon and Washington coasts, the U.S. Navy is further extending the public comment period for the Northwest Training Range Complex expansion project to March 11 to allow for additional public input.

The Navy is looking to expand its training operations at several sites off the coast of the Pacific Northwest, where for decades it has tested weapons systems and sonar submarine tracking technology. After a public outcry over its expansion plans, the Navy is making a special allowance within this National Environmental Policy Act process to invite additional public comments.
