NYC BBQ is heartfelt thanks for community support

KEVIN?HEIMBIGNER /Chinook Observer
NYC employees provided a barbecue with all the trimmings and gave guided tours of the campus Friday.

NASELLE - No one was sure where the idea came from, but guests and hosts alike knew it was great to provide a barbecue and guided tours of Naselle Youth Camp last Friday. NYC Superintendent Daryl Poston said, "The staff wanted to say thanks to the community for rallying around the camp when there was the possibility it might close due to budget constraints."

The barbecue and all the trimmings were provided and prepared entirely by the staff and for the community. A guided tour of the campus included seeing the landscaped grounds, the trout hatchery, the Department of Natural Resources buildings, and inside Eagle Lodge, which is presently empty. The history of NYC and a question and answer period also were included in the tour.
