Obituaries: Arthur E. Peterson

CATHLAMET - Arthur E. "Skamokawa Pete" Peterson, 80, died Aug. 11, 2008, as a result of a car accident. He was born on Oct. 25,1927, in Skamokawa and that is where he attended school.

He was a lifelong resident of Skamokawa and the owner of the Duck Inn. He was a commercial fisherman who fished locally and in Alaska and was well known to the residents of the Long Beach Peninsula.

Mr. Peterson was a long time member of the Legion, Moose, Elks and Eagles and a generous supporter of many local organizations.

Survivors include his long-time companion, Judy Smith; his children John Peterson of Kodiak, Alaska and Sandra Davis of Cathlamet as well as Judy's son, Mike Apperson of Rochester; his brother, Raymond Peterson of Auburn, Calif.; and his grandchildren, John, Troy, Jana and Marissa. His brother, John, his sisters, Margaret, Vivian and Bernice and grandson, Sven, predeceased him.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., on Aug. 23, at Vista Park in Skamokawa. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Skamokawa Fire Department.
