LONG BEACH - Lifelong Peninsula resident David A. Andrews, 51, died Nov. 18, 2007, of natural causes at his Long Beach residence. The son of David and Margaret (Matthews) Andrews, he was born Jan. 26, 1956, in Ilwaco. He grew up in Ocean Park where he attended grade school and went on to graduate from Ilwaco High School.

Mr. Andrews was a commercial fisherman all his working years. He fished the seasons with his Uncle Gene Andrews and was particularly adept as a gillnetter.

As a youth, he attended Sunday school at Ocean Park Methodist Church. As an Eagle Scout he was able to go to Japan for the World Jamboree. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, and sport and jetty fishing. His happiest days were working outside.

Survivors include his brother, Dale Andrews; half-brother Ronnie Martensen; half-sisters Pat Haavisto and Georgia Brewer.
