SEAVIEW - Donald Edward Olson, 54, of Seaview, died July 21, 2007, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was one of twin boys born June 2, 1953, in Vancouver to Adrian and Gladys (Van Ausdale) Olson. As a young boy, he worked on the family farm picking raspberries and strawberries to help buy school clothes. He dropped out of high school in the 11th grade, but earned his GED through the Job Corps before his class of 1972.
Mr. Olson moved to Seaview 14 years ago following his brother's move to the area. He couldn't stand to be separated from his twin brother Dick. He first started laying carpet and flooring as well as working at the Sunset Tavern in Ilwaco. Before he became ill, he had worked for the past five years for Fine Tooth Comb Construction.
He loved hunting and fishing. He and friends rode horseback into the upper Salmon Creek area to hunt elk. He also enjoyed digging clams a lot.
Survivors include his twin brother Dick, and older brother James (Carolanne) Olson of Vancouver. Also surviving are Jeff and Kelly, Bret Heller and nieces Kristian Olson and Deanne Heller. His parents preceded him in death.
A potluck celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 4 at Rod's Lamplighter in Seaview. Arrangements entrusted to Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach. View the online obituary at www.penttilaschapel.com.
