PORTLAND - Emily Marie Ellsworth, 86, died Jan. 29, 2008, in Portland. The daughter of George Winders and Gail Horton, she was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Battle Ground High School and was a cannery worker. She retired from Del Monte.
She was a Clark County resident until moving to Ocean Park eight years ago.
She liked fishing, crocheting, camping, sewing, reading, bingo, game shows and playing cards. She enjoyed being a mom and grandma and loved the time she had spent in Arizona with her husband, Al.
Survivors include her sons, Jim (Pat) Meyers of Vancouver and Tommy Meyers of Seattle; daughters, Gail (Barry Neal) York of Ocean Park, Sharon (Hugh) Eggleston of Ridgefield, Bette Sue (Bob West) Carter of Yacolt and Debbie (Alex) Stolk of Lafayette, Ore.; a brother, Raymond Winders; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her husbands, Milin Carter, Herb Meyers and Allen Ellsworth; sons, Milin Carter and Arthur Carter; and a brother, Stanley Winders preceded her in death.
A memorial service and potluck will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 9 at Fargher Lake Grange in LaCenter. Layne's Funeral Home, Battle Ground is in charge of arrangements.
