Obituaries: Geneva M. Ulbrickson

CENTRALIA - Geneva M. Ulbrickson, age 88, died Feb. 19, 2009, in Centralia. The daughter of Curtis G. Holt and Marie K. (Meng) Holt, she was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Tulsa, Okla.

She moved with her family to Seattle in 1927. The eldest of four children, she supported the troops during WWII through her work with the USO. She had a deep love of music and pursued it professionally prior to her marriage on July 21, 1946, to Charles "Charlie" Ulbrickson.

She and her husband raised their five children in the greater Seattle area. Mrs. Ulbrickson was devoted to her husband and her family and took great pleasure in landscaping her yard and gardening.

The couple moved to Long Beach 27 years ago, after retirement. Together with her husband, she was active in establishing the Pacific Bible Church in Ilwaco. She was past chair of the Republican Party for Pacific County and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include two sons, Charles E. Ulbrickson, Jr. of Chehalis and Eugene A. Ulbrickson of Tacoma; three daughters, Lucy M. Ulbrickson of Everett, Kristi A. Gumbel of Tacoma and Karen L. Ulbrickson of Federal Way; three grandchildren, Alex Ulbrickson of Chehalis, Nick Ulbrickson of Everett and Miriam Meyer of Federal Way.

Her husband of nearly 63 years preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 2009.

A joint memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Ulbrickson will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 5701 8th Avenue NE in Seattle.
