Obituaries: Ina Ravena Duncan

LONG BEACH - Ina Ravena Duncan, 96, of Ocean Park, passed peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 7, 2008, in Long Beach. She was born July 19, 1912, in Portland, to Charles and Ina (Williams) Cotty. She was raised in the Portland area and attended school there.

She studied for her doctorial degree at Oregon State University and later worked there as a lab technician until her retirement.

She was married to Clarence Duncan; he proceed her in death in 1977. She had fond memories of her parents vacationing in Ocean Park and around 1918 they built a home here for their holidays at the beach. "No more camping out in the harsh weather," she would say with a smile. After her retirement from OSU, she moved to Ocean Park permanently.

Survivors include a great niece, Dorris Hunziker and a great-great-nephew James Reed, both of California. She will be missed greatly by her friends and neighbors.

Burial will take place next to her husband at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements are by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach. The online guest book may be signed at www.penttilaschapel.com.
