LONG BEACH - Long Beach resident Juanita M. Knopski, 95, died Aug. 10, 2008, in a local care facility. The daughter of Orlo and Edith (Dennison) Moore, she was born in Portland on Dec. 5, 1912. She grew up in the Orchards area of what was then rural Clark County. She attended and graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver.

She worked on the construction of Bonneville Dam and during World War II she worked in Portland-Vancouver area shipyards. Following her marriage to Anton Knopski she was a wife and mother, residing in Washougal. In 1968 she and Anton retired to the Peninsula. He died in 1990.

Mrs. Knopski was an avid gardener who took special pride in her flowers. She also enjoyed ceramics and enjoyed staying in touch with friends, neighbors and family.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Carole Knopski of Cathlamet; grandson, John and his wife Virginia Knopski of Ocean Park; and great-grandchildren Abby and Ethan Knopski.

No formal service will be held. Private interment will be at Ilwaco Cemetery. The guest book is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
