Obituaries: Phyllis Scheibner

ILWACO - Seaview resident Phyllis Scheibner went to be with our Lord Jesus on the evening of July 26, 2010, in Ilwaco. She was born in Portland on Oct. 10, 1932, to Jacob Gray Kamm and Constance West Kamm, a pioneer family of Portland.

She was a teacher for more than 35 years in the Portland area, mostly at Floyd Light Middle School and still enjoyed working with young people as a substitute teacher on the Long Beach Peninsula.

She enjoyed retirement at the beach, gardening, fishing, beachcombing and lunching with friends. She had traveled through Europe and the South Pacific several times. She took pride in helping young people and actually had helped people of all ages through difficult times. She enjoyed many friendships and will be truly missed. Love doesn't die.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Albert, of Seaview; and her sister Barbara Kamm Foster of Medford, Ore. Her parents and her sister, Constance Margaret Kamm, preceded her in death.

Graveside service will be Friday, Aug., 6, at 11 a.m., at Ilwaco Cemetery. Memorial service will be Saturday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m., at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco with a reception following. Those wishing may make memorials to the South Pacific County Humane Society, P.O. Box 101, Long Beach, WA 98631. Her guest book is available at (www.penttilaschapel.com).
