LONG BEACH - A memorial service for Violet K. Moss of Nahcotta will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21 at Penttila's Chapel by the Sea in Long Beach.
She died March 26, 2007, at age 95, in a local care center. Over the years she taught hundreds of workers to open oysters. She was a patient and skilled teacher. She was noted for her loving spirit and caring for those who needed a helping hand. She was a spunky little lady who worked years past typical retirement age. She never walked; she trotted. In her retirement she enjoyed hanging out at Grannie Annie's in Ocean Park, swapping yarns with other locals and popping up to pour coffee or clear tables whenever she saw the opportunity.
Friends from the Peninsula are especially urged to attend to share memories with the family. A time of fellowship and light refreshments will follow at the chapel.
