OCEAN PARK - An Ocean Park man is still recovering in a Portland after his motorcycle slammed into a vehicle on SR 103 near 162nd Lane on Saturday, Aug. 24 at approximately 6 p.m.
According to a Washington State Patrol report, David McColm, driving a 1988 Harley Davidson, collided with a 2000 Nissan sedan, driven by David Weisenburg of Lake Oswego, Ore. Both were northbound on SR 103.
According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Glen Tyrrell, McColm struck the Nissan's driver's side while it was making a left-hand turn off of SR 103.
Both McColm and Weisenburg were taken to Ocean Beach Hospital in Ilwaco, but do to the extent of McColm's injuries, he was air-flilghted to Legacy Emanuel Hospital and Health Center in Portland, where he is currently listed in critical condition with head and neck injuries.
According to a McColm family friend, Diann Wallin, as of Monday, McColm is "holding his own."
"His condition has been upgraded since he was first brought in," said Wallin.
According to Wallin, a fund has been set up by the Peninsula Saddle Club at The Bank of the Pacific for McColm. The bank's phone number is 642-3777.
