LONG BEACH - Life Care Centers of America's Evergreen Region announced today that it will be closing Ocean View Convalescent Center, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, at 211 W. Pioneer Road in Long Beach, effective March 31.

Family members are invited to attend a meeting on Jan. 20 at 10:30 a.m. to discuss details. Associates will also be available to meet with them individually to answer further questions they may have. The facility is assisting the residents and their family members with the transition and with placing their loved ones in other facilities of their choice.

"We treasure the relationships developed with residents, family members, associates and the community since we began managing this facility in 1996," said Ginny Schauls, executive director at Ocean View Convalescent Center. "In the long run, however, we believe this to be the best alternative for all concerned. Recent years of service have continued to be more challenging with no vision of future financial feasibility."

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services has been notified of the plans, and the facility is also addressing the matter with its associates.
