James Motavalli, Author found lots of information here about the peculiar artist and wild man Joe Knowles

ILWACO - Friday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m., author James Motavalli will speak at the Ilwaco Heritage Museum about the life and times of local artist and colorful character Joe Knowles.

While researching his upcoming biography of Joseph Edward Knowles (1869-1942), Motavalli spent three days in the collections and archives of the Ilwaco Heritage Museum. He found that Ilwaco, near Knowles home of 25 years, has the largest collection of Knowles materials he has seen.

Motavalli, of Norfolk, Conn., is returning to the West Coast this summer to see the Knowles exhibit at the Museum. During his program, he will share highlights about Knowles, Marion Humphrey Knowles and Edyth Henry. Many people eagerly await his book due out in early 2008.
