Philip Edward Baker and Shirley Jean (Roberts) Baker celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary

OCEAN PARK - Philip Edward Baker and Shirley Jean (Roberts) Baker celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at an luncheon hosted by their sons and daughters-in-law.

Mr. and Mrs. Baker were married Oct. 18, 1952 in Stevenson. The couple resided in Portland where Mrs. Baker managed Rose's Bakery and Helen Berkhard Bakery until her retirement in 1991. Mr. Baker was a self-employed auto upholsterer until he retired in 1994. The couple moved to Ocean Park in 1994.

Their children are Michael Baker of Gresham; Lawrence Baker of Spokane; and Jeffrey Baker of Vancouver. They also have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The special luncheon for the couple was held at the Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver on Saturday, Oct. 19. A three-tier, cream fondant cake with mauve flowers was served. Everyone had a great time dancing to music provided by Ruppert Blaize and his band.

The couple was also given first-class tickets to Hawaii by son, Lawrence. They took the trip with two life-long friends from Seaview who were also celebrating their 50th anniversary.

The couple was very touched and pleased with all the effort put forth by their family to ensure this special celebration held many treasured memories.
