LONG BEACH/ILWACO - Long Beach Police Department officers had a relatively quiet schedule last week. Cases covered included the following:

A large dog was reported in front of a childcare center at 6:09 p.m. March 1. An officer called the dog's owner, who took it home.

An officer took a lost dog to the Pacific County Humane Society shelter at 7:06 p.m. March 1.

An officer assisted EMTs with an elderly female who reported having chest pains at 1:30 a.m. March 2.

An Ilwaco resident reported two tires were slashed on his vehicle the previous night at 11 a.m. March 2. Damage was estimated at about $50.

A resident on Washington Street in Long Beach reported a speeding school bus at 3:20 p.m. March 2. She said this was a "regular occurrence," according to the police report.

A motion alarm was activated at a Port of Ilwaco gallery at 8:35 p.m. March 2. An officer checked the building and all was secure.

A 36-year-old woman was contacted by an officer after a 911 hang-up call in the 1200 block of North Oregon Street in Long Beach. A couple had been arguing.

A 17-year-old female reported at 10:27 p.m. March 2 that she gotten a call from someone who said he had a 9 mm handgun and was walking to Long Beach to rob a half-pound of methamphetamine from someone known only as "old man Roberts." An officer was unable to locate the man and told the girl's mother not to open the door if the man came to her house.

A possible DUI was reported at 3:43 p.m. March 3. An officer found the vehicle parked at home.

Officers were asked to check on a man in his 20s who hadn't been heard from in a week at 3:50 p.m. March 3. After receiving no response on the man's telephone, an officer had his door lock drilled and found the man, who said he wasn't answering his phone or the door. A counselor was called to stay with him.

Two dogs were reported running loose in downtown Long Beach at 10:26 a.m. March 4. An officer took them to the SPCHS shelter.

A fire in a microwave was reported at 11:22 a.m. March 4 in Long Beach. An officer was unable to get into the room because of noxious smoke and helped residents exit the building until the fire department arrived.

A DUI was reported on Loop 100 in Ilwaco at 3 p.m. March 4. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

An officer helped a motorist unlock a vehicle at 3:34 p.m. March 4 in Long Beach.

A landlord-tenant dispute was reported at 9 p.m. March 4 in Long Beach. The renter said his landlord had cleaned out the house and threw his belongings in a Dumpster, including medicine. An officer advised the man to get a court order.

A hold-up alarm was set off by construction workers at 7:30 a.m. March 5 at the Port of Ilwaco.

An employee at a downtown Long Beach store reported finding a bag containing about a gram of crystal methamphetamine at 10:20 a.m. March 5. An officer tested the substance and found "it was strong stuff," according to the police report.

An Ilwaco motel owner reported finding a mirror on the front seat of a renter's vehicle with a substance on it at 10:40 a.m. March 5. An officer checked the mirror and found only smudge marks on it.

An officer took a stray dog to the SPCHS shelter at 12:45 p.m. March 5.

A set of keys, a remote and a card for a local exercise business were reported found at 2:30 p.m. March 5 and turned in at the police station.

A woman reported receiving harassing telephone calls from someone who said a gay man from Seattle was coming to town to "hook up" with her son at 5:11 p.m. March 5. An officer advised the woman to get a phone trap.

Two people who were refused service at a Long Beach store came back later and were banging on the doors at 7:30 p.m. March 5. They were gone when an officer arrived and he waited for the employee of the store to get in her car and leave.

A vacation cabin in the 200 block of N.E. Third Street was reported broken into at 8:10 p.m. March 5. The owner said a back window in a door was broken and it looked like someone had been living in the home. A sleeping bag, clothes and food were found, a CD player was missing and the house was a "general mess," according to the report. A gray sweatshirt and a pair of jeans were removed from the house by the officer.

A dead porpoise was reported found on the beach between the Sid Snyder Drive and Seaview beach approaches at 10:45 p.m. March 5.

A 44-year-old Seattle man called LBPD to report an assault at 11 p.m. March 5 in the 900 block of South Washington Street in Long Beach. According to the police report, the victim said Ian K. Nelson, 37, from Long Beach, had "come unplugged on him and hit him several times in the face and also kicked him." He was taken to Ocean Beach Hospital with superficial injuries. Nelson told officers that the victim had come to his house when he had been told not to and when he threw him out, he ran at him and attempted to hit him. He said he didn't hit the victim. Nelson was cited for fourth-degree assault and released.

Three people were reported stuck on cliffs in the Beards Hollow area at 12:15 p.m. March 6. All three made it to the top of the cliffs safely, according to the report.

A false alarm was reported in the boys' locker room at Ilwaco High School at 12:20 p.m. March 6.

A report of a vehicle being driven erratically was received at 6:38 p.m. March 6 in Long Beach. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

An officer assisted EMTs with a possible heart-attack victim at 5:17 a.m. March 7.

A burglary was reported at 10:30 a.m. March 7 at a Long Beach restaurant. Beer, alcohol and knives with a value of about $500 were reported missing. Entrance was gained to the restaurant by a hole cut in the back wall.

A possible drug overdose was reported at 3 p.m. March 7 in Ilwaco. A 35-year-old man said his wife had taken "a bunch of Tylenol pills and left in his truck," according to the report. The woman returned to her home about 20 minutes later.

An officer helped with an 80-year-old woman who had fallen and took her to her home at 7:30 p.m. March 7.

An officer saw a man carrying what looked like a battle axe at 10:40 p.m. March 7 in the 400 block of North Washington Street in Long Beach. When he drove past the man, he "made an aggressive motion toward the patrol vehicle," according to the report. The officer turned around and saw the man walk into a residence and noticed a cut between his eyes. He also appeared to be intoxicated, according to the report. The officer told the man if he threatened an officer, all his knives would be confiscated. The man then passed out on his bed.

An officer helped a motorist jump-start his car at 9:10 p.m. March 7.

A Trek 7200 bicycle was found near a motel in north Long Beach at 9:45 a.m. March 8 and was taken to the police department for safe-keeping.

A black and silver Nokia cell phone valued at $69 was reported lost at 10:20 a.m. March 8 in the Sahalee area of Ilwaco.
