OCEAN PARK Recently Retired Eagles Activities Club (REAC) President Dale Shoemaker presented Michael Goldberg, president of the Ocean Park Food Bank, with a check for $500. Traditionally the outgoing president of the group designates a donation be made to a charity of his or her choice and Dale graciously chose the food bank.
Dale has a history of volunteerism on the Peninsula. As a charter member of the Moose Lodge, he helped raise the roof on the new building; he has been the chaplain at the Elks Lodge for the past six years and assisted with numerous Elks Charities fundraisers. He has cared for and tended the rose garden at his church for two years; helped install a drainage system to control flooding by the front door of the church in addition to mowing the lawn and keeping the security lights working at the church; has helped prepare special meals; he is on the board of directors at the Peninsula Senior Activity Center and helps the senior center in numerous ways, and has served as president of AARP.
His volunteer activities are too abundant to list but the community can be proud to have someone like Dale in their midst. He stresses the need for volunteers at various organizations on the Peninsula noting that, every club needs folks who are interested in doing their best to help, and he encourages others to get involved.
