NASELLE - The voters of the Naselle-Grays River Valley School District will be voting on a maintenance and operations replacement levy on Tuesday, Feb. 3. The levy, if approved, will replace the current M/O levy and will help finance the school district's operations for the next two years, during 2005 and 2006.

The levy, if approved, will raise $526,000 each year during 2005 and 2006. The cost per $1,000 of assessed property valuation will be $3.07 for the first year and $2.98 the second year.

New voters in the district have until this Friday to register to vote. Those new voters in the school district, or voters wishing to transfer their registration due to a change of residence, may do so in person by Friday, Jan. 16, in the County Auditors' offices in Cathlamet, South Bend, or Long Beach.

Chairman of the citizens' committee for the passage of the levy Mike Swanson stated, "With the approval of these funds, the programs which the district currently has in place will generally be able to be continued. Without the levy approval, the district will be faced with having to cut or reduce in several areas that are vital to our children's' education. Please remember that, this levy just 'replaces' the current one at the exact same dollar amount."
