PENINSULA - Ilwaco Junior/Senior High School will hold an assembly commemorating Sept. 11, 2001 beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The event, which will be held in the school gym, will include speakers, music and more and will provide an opportunity for the students and staff to reflect on the events of that day.

Pacific County District No. 1, Long Beach Fire Department, Ilwaco Fire Department, and District No. 2, Long Beach Police Department and others will pay tribute to Sept. 11, 2001 with a ceremony at Stanley Field, next to the Long Beach Fire Station, beginning 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Speakers will include Sen. Sid Synder, State Rep. Brian Hatfield, State Representative Mark Doumit, Dave Sexton, Sheriff Didion, and Mayor Jacobson. County Clerk Virginia Leach will sing.

At noon, St. Peter's Episcopal Church and Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church will jointly host a service of prayer and remembrance at the Peninsula Church Center.

Later in the day at 7 p.m., another memorial service will be held at Peninsula Assembly of God Church, 26310 Ridge Avenue, Ocean Park.
