OCEAN PARK - Rex "Rocky" Davis, 68, died July 15, 2005, at his Ocean Park residence. Born April 13, 1937, in Cardin, Okla., he was the son of Tom and Rachel (Turntine) Davis. When he was 10 years old, the family moved to the Peninsula.

Mr. Davis worked in road maintenance for Pacific County until retirement. He was a member of the Long Beach Elks, the Ocean Park Moose and the Ocean Park Eagles lodges. For a number of years he was a volunteer firefighter for Pacific County Fire Protection District No. 1.

As a longtime member of the Peninsula Saddle Club, he was a volunteer who worked behind the calf chutes each year at the annual rodeo. He enjoyed riding and caring for horses and while his children were growing up took the family on numerous camping trips. Later he and his wife Beverly traveled with friends to rodeos in Oregon and Washington.

He enjoyed life and many friendships.

He and Beverly Maggi were married Aug. 4, 1962. She survives at the family home in Ocean Park. Also surviving are daughters Sharlene Gray of Seaview and Andrea Schmidt of Hillsboro, Ore.; son Rod Davis of Ocean Park; sisters Joyce Bell, Joan Mosher, Patricia Bolden, Linda Mikkola, all of Ocean Park, and Phyllis Bennett of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren Nichol Gray and Ryan Schmidt; and numerous other members of his extended family. He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard West, brothers Dock Davis and Alvie Davis, and by a sister Mary Henington.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 23 at the Moose Lodge in Ocean Park. Memorials may be made to the Peninsula Saddle Club in care of Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, P.O. Box 417, Long Beach, WA 98631.
