PACIFIC COUNTY - It will come as no surprise that highway construction is in full swing throughout Washington's Lower Columbia counties. Flaggers and long waits for pilot vehicles have slowed travel to a crawl this August.

The following are some of the construction activities planned for the remainder of the week. Construction is scheduled to pause for the forthcoming long weekend.

? Daytime traffic reduced to single lane, alternating directions on US 101 between SR 4 junction (milepost 28.87) and the Megler Bridge (milepost 0.44) for paving, striping and construction activities.

? Daytime flagging and single lane closure on US 101 and Sandridge Road intersection for signal work.

? Daytime flagging and single lane closure on US 101 between Ilwaco and Chinook vicinity for signal work.

? Daytime traffic reduced to single lane, alternating directions on SR 401 between US 101 junction (milepost 0.02) and SR 4 junction (milepost 12.13) for construction activities.

? Daytime traffic reduced to single lane, alternating directions on SR 4 between Kandoll Road (milepost 14.66) and the Grays River Bridge (milepost 19.37) for construction activities.

? SR 105, both near the Smith Creek Bridge vicinity in Raymond (milepost 7), daytime traffic reduced to single lane, alternating directions with flaggers on SR 105 for pavement repair operation.

? US 101, Both directions between Franklin Street to Smith Creek Road in Raymond (mileposts 59-63), daytime traffic reduced to single lane, alternating directions with flaggers on US 101 for pavement repair operation.
