LONGVIEW - Robert Adna Booth, 61, of Longview, passed away June 26, 2006, at St. John Medical Center.
Mr. Booth, the eldest son of Robert D. and Christina E. Booth, was born Aug. 23, 1944, in Ryderwood. He attended Ryderwood Grade School until Long-Bell Timber Company sold the town in 1953 and the school closed.
The family moved toward Vader and later built a new home on the Booth family farm in the Cougar Flat Valley. Mr. Booth then attended Vader Grade School and graduated from Toledo High School and Centralia College.
He worked for Longview Fibre for 35 years, most recently as an instrumentation technician, retiring in 1999. He married Gerrie Westover in Portland on Valentine's Day, 1971.
He spent many happy hours hunting and fishing with his family and friends, canoeing and camping with his wife, and enjoyed growing roses. He loved the ocean and after retiring, spent most of his time at the Ocean Park beach cottage he and Gerrie bought in 1985 and remodeled in the early '90s.
Survivors include his wife, Gerrie Booth of Longview; his mother, Christina Booth of Vader; brother, Greg Booth of Clatskanie; sister, Patty Broom of Centralia; and many much-loved nieces and nephews. His father preceded him in death in 2001.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winlock. Private interment at Little Falls Cemetery near Vader will take place earlier. Fir Law Funeral Home of Toledo is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Medical Center Foundation; P.O. Box 3002; Longview, WA 98632, an organization he loved and supported.
