CHINOOK - A memorial service will be held at noon on July 5 at the Chinook Park for Robert C. Loop, who died Nov. 2, 2005, at Tuscon Medical Hospital. A potluck lunch with barbecue steaks will follow.

Mr. Loop was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Amity, Ore. He served in the Navy for four years during World War II. He was a police officer for the Portland Police Department for 25 years before retiring in 1971. He was also a skipper for charter boats in Ilwaco, Chinook and Astoria. After retirement he wintered in Yuma, Ariz.

His 101-year-old mother, Hazel Burch, of McMinnville, Ore, survives him.

The memorial service will include an Honor Guard and bagpiper playing "Amazing Grace."
