ASTORIA — The Clatsop County Select Area Fishery Evaluation (SAFE) Project will hold an informational meeting from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jan. 24 at the Holiday Inn Express, 204 W. Marine Drive in Astoria, to present spring Chinook run size expectations for Select Areas and to solicit public involvement in the 2011 commercial and recreational winter, spring, and summer Select Area fishery planning process.

The agenda also includes an update on the SAFE Project; a review of the 2010 Select Area commercial fisheries; the fall season harvest; discussions about the expected 2011 spring Chinook returns and management of 2011 winter/spring/summer Select Area fisheries; season/harvest management considerations; recreational fisheries; and a general discussion.

The staff will give its recommendations about Youngs Bay, Blind Slough/Knappa Slough, Deep River, Tongue Point/South Channel and the season setting process.
