Santa and Mrs. Claus were easily the most popular couple on the Peninsula last Saturday as the two kicked off the holiday season in downtown Long Beach. The "great jolly old elf" arrived in style aboard a Long Beach Volunteer Fire Department truck. Mrs. Claus entertained the large group of kids and their parents while waiting for Santa with a magic show. The two also fielded questions from the audience (ABOVE). Prior to Santa's arrival, Frosty the Snowman made a surprise appearance, giving hugs and shaking hands with kids.

However, some were more excited to meet him than others (RIGHT).

This Saturday at 5:15 p.m., the Port of Ilwaco will hold its holiday party, including the lighting of their one-of-a-kind "crab pot Christmas tree," followed by the annual lighted boat parade on Baker Bay. The Ocean Park Moose Lodge, the Naselle Congregational Church and the Ocean Park Methodist Church will all hold holiday bazaars the same day. And Santa Claus will return to town to visit with kids at All Season's Kidstuff in Chinook on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. For more information on these and many other holiday events happening, see the Community Calendar link below.
