ILWACO - A 46-year-old man went missing Saturday afternoon in the Ilwaco area. Long Beach Police Department Chief Flint Wright said when the man didn't return home, U.S. Coast Guard helicopters, Pacific County Search and Rescue and two tracking dogs from West Coast Search Dogs of Grays Harbor County were called in to search for him.

Wright said family members said the man had gone for a walk by himself to the North Jetty or Beards Hollow.

The man had set off on Discovery Trail and his track was picked up at Beards Hollow, where it disappeared. Wright himself searched the jetty, he said, as helicopters were overhead looking for the man, who finally showed up Sunday evening. He said he had gotten a ride at Beards Hollow and had decided to go fishing but hadn't told his family of his plans.
