NASELLE - The Naselle-Grays River Valley School District presents a Depression and Suicide Awareness Forum in the Naselle Middle School Commons at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18.

Laine said, "The holidays are rapidly approaching us. Before we know it, the Christmas holiday will be here, followed by New Year's Day, and the end of the first semester. The holidays can be an extremely exciting time for some families and an extremely difficult and stressful time for others."

At the forum, Cecilia Sanders of Wahkiakum Health and Human Services, Georgiana Landa of Willapa Counseling, and Laine will present information, distribute handouts, and answer questions about depression and youth suicide. Discussion points will include the prevalence of depression and youth suicide, the symptoms and treatment of depression, suicide warning signs and prevention, and various other health-related issues (i.e., ADHD, anxiety disorders, etc.).

For more information, call Laine at (360) 484-7121.

Laine concluded, "We hope that you will join us on December 18th to learn more about youth depression and suicide. Together, we can minimize the effects of depression and suicide on our community. Also, I have available a list of resources and phone numbers for your use during times of stress and/or crisis."
