PORT OF ILWACO - Commissioner Jim Stiebritz has announced his resignation from the port's commission, effective Dec. 31. He will be moving to Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

As a commissioner at the port for seven years, Stiebritz "early on helped get the waterfront master plan adopted," Port Financial Director Mary DeLong said this week. "Jim was with us through the implementation of the First and Howerton waterfront revitalization project and the rebuilding of the docks at the port. I'll miss Jim. I enjoyed working with him."

Stiebritz owned Sunrise Seafoods for several years at the port and sold the business last year to Jessie's Ilwaco Fish Co.

The commission is now looking for a candidate to fill Stiebritz's District 1 position. The candidate must live in the district which stretches from Seaview to Oysterville on the east side of the Long Beach Peninsula.
