PACIFIC COUNTY - As of Monday, May 18, Pacific County is still officially free of swine flu, though a case has now been confirmed in neighboring Lewis County.

According to the Washington State Department of Health, the statewide total of confirmed swine flu cases climbed to 410 this Monday, up from 176 last Monday. There are 11 confirmed cases in Southwest Washington, including six in Clark County, four in Thurston County and one in Lewis, which is directly to the east of Pacific County.

All but 10 of the statewide cases are in counties intersected by Interstate 5. The exceptions are Island, Kitsap, Yakima, Douglas and Spokane counties. Cowlitz County, where Longview is located, is the only I-5 county without the flu.

Nationwide, there are 5,123 confirmed swine flu cases as of Monday, including five deaths. Only Wyoming and West Virginia are still flu free.

There were 97 confirmed cases in Oregon on Monday. There are no cases in Clatsop or neighboring counties.
