TACOMA, Wash. — The sentencing of Martin A. Jones, 46, of Seaview, Wash., for the attempted murder of Washington State Patrol Trooper Scott Johnson in February 2010 has been delayed to next Wednesday.

Jones was convicted by a jury last month and was scheduled to be sentenced in Pierce County Superior Court Friday. He denied shooting Johnson after a late-night traffic stop just south of downtown Long Beach, Wash., in which his wife, Susan, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Johnson has since been elected Pacific County Sheriff.
