SOUTH BEND - The Coast Guard is conducting a Waterways Analysis and Management System (WAMS) study of Willapa Bay.

The purpose of the WAMS is to validate the adequacy of the existing aids to navigation (ATON) system.

The analysis focuses on the waterway's present navigation aids system, marine casualty information, port/harbor resources, changes in marine vessel usage, both recreational and commercial, and future development projects.

Additionally the Coast Guard will hold a public meeting to gather user input. The meeting will be Feb. 21 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pacific County Annex Building, 1216 West Robert Bush Drive, South Bend. For directions, please call the South Bend County Commissioners Office at 642-9337.
