COLUMBIA RIVER - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' dredge, Essayons, is starting annual maintenance dredging in the Columbia River.

The Essayons will work in the Columbia River for several days before moving to the mouth of the Columbia River. The dredge may return up the Columbia River if shoals that impact navigation form while the dredge is working at the mouth, engineers said.
