LONG BEACH - Long Beach resident Violet L. Robbins, 86, died Sept. 17, 2002 in Astoria.

The daughter of Frederick and Olga (Hennig) Christensen, she was born Oct. 27, 1915 in Long Beach. Violet grew up on the Peninsula at the Bear River Dairy and graduated from Ilwaco High School. She then moved to Portland where she attended business college.

Mrs. Robbins worked for several years in Portland before returning to Pacific County, settling in South Bend. There she worked at Noonan's Bakery and several other jobs before going to work in the county courthouse. She worked in the auditors office for 26 years. Following retirement she returned to Long Beach in 1978 where she had maintained a summer home since 1942.

She and Harold Robbins were married Sept. 21,1941 in South Bend. He died earlier. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church and Ocean Beach Rebekahs Lodge No. 313 of Ilwaco. She enjoyed knitting, walks on the beach, clamming and cooking.

She is survived by brother William Christensen of Lake Oswego, Ore.; sister Agnes Smith of Seattle. A sister, Lucille Williams died earlier.

Funeral service was Saturday, Sept. 21, at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach. Concluding graveside service followed at Lone Fir Cemetery and a reception was held at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
