The National Weather Service has issued a bad weather warning for the North Oregon Coast and the southwest Washington coast, including the cities of Astoria, Cannon Beach, Tillamook, Raymond, Long Beach and Cathlamet, Wash.

A high wind warning is in effect from 10 p.m. Monday evening to 7 a.m. Tuesday.

South winds of 25 to 40 mph, with gusts to around 60 mph, are expected to develop along the coast Monday night and continue until sunrise Tuesday.

An approaching developing low-pressure center is expected to produce the winds along the Oregon Coast then spread to Washington coast after midnight.

The strongest winds will be near headlands and beaches.

The winds will diminish as the weather system moves onshore into northwest Washington and southern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, Tuesday morning.
